Life Drawing and More 11 Sec Club

I'm still tweaking my blocking for the 11 second club. This one seems a bit better.

New Poses

I tweaked some of the old poses and added new ones for the "accused".

Monday, November 8, 2010

Hmmm...

Argh... I just realized the second character doesn't have his hand in a fist for the last two poses.... I'll fix that later...

Sugar!!!

Here's my idea/storyboard for the new 11 second club sound clip. I'm pretty sure I need to add a few things in the background of the scene so that people know that it's after Halloween. Both boards are the same concept, just some of the gestures are different.

Final 11 Sec Club and Halloween costume?

Umm I didn't wear a costume for trick-or treating, but I guess my ideal costume would be a ninja.... that I have. Also this is my final 11 second club entry.

Speedy Senior

Here's my current animation. Apparently, the old man is very frightened to see the little reaper. Enough so that he takes off with great speed. I have a few more things to tweak, but I'd say 90-95% is done. I'm still debating whether or not I'm going to color it, but I still need to scan the whole thing.

Almost there...

I finished most of the lip-syncing today, although I need to tweak some parts. As for the old man, he still needs his "run" but I used the walk cycle frames as place holders (it just has a bigger gap between them).

Life Drawing 10/25

I tried a different approach this time. I just focused on the clothes rather than fully outlining the figure. I did add some lighter lines to suggest the hair/head.

Updated ver.

Here's my err... more recent rough draft/test. I pretty much got down the gestures. I need to fix a few parts but other then that, it looks ok. I'm still avoiding lip-syncing to finish working on the old man. He's been neglected long enough.

Redoing the animation

This is what I have so far for my animation. Such a long way to go.... I redid a few parts of it. The ending is going to be the same as the other one, but I need to work on the "doctors and medicines" part. Also I animated the old man wrong. I'll fix that when I get a chance. Still no lip-syncing yet.

Beach Time

This is bits and pieces of a conversation I heard on the bus. For the 'Where she at?' part was repeated twice.

And this is my life drawing from class.

Rough Pass

Rough Pass on Oct 11 Second Club from Michelle Taguchi on Vimeo.

Here's a rough pass of my 11 sec club animation. I still didn't add lip syncing or my walk cycle for the old man yet. I have an old man image as a place holder to where he should be in the animation. I didn't realize my little Grim Reaper has some really small steps. I'm going to take out quite a bit of frames in my animation as well. I have at least 20 frames on ones. I didn't get a chance to work on my little scene from Monday's excursion.

Partial Rough Pass

Here's what I have so far. I don't know why my video doesn't work on Youtube...but it works on Vimeo. I realized he started to shrink in the middle so I'm going to try and fix that now before I continue on with the animation.

That was simple...

I finally figured out why my animation was only in grey. I thought it was because the top layer was in a grey scale but the actual reason is kinda... simple. I just needed to switch the video option to one of the color options (256, thousand, million, million+). Well now I know. I think the grey scale one fits the scene more than the color. Both videos are the old file. I still didn't finish my discovery scene. Here's both of my discovery scenes, one in grey and the other color. Let me know which one you guys think is better.

Life Drawings and a Test

This is what I have so far. I think I'm going to make more changes to the keys. I didn't finish blocking the whole dialogue and I still have yet to animate the old man. Other than that, the animation looks ok so far.

Edit: I tried to upload my video several times but the animation never appears. I even tried posting it on Youtube. The file works fine on my computer so I don't know what's wrong with it.

Also, this is my very cheaply made Marquette. It's constructed out of kneaded eraser and part of a kabob stick.

11 sec club Storyboard

I tried to think of different ideas for the dialogue for the 11 second club, but it didn't seem to really match it. The best I could come up with is a scientist guy.

Upon Request

Here's the second part of my lecture notes with little thumbnails of the hippo kicking the ball. Err... just overlook the spelling errors.

Not what I had in mind...

Toonboom tricked me. It showed my background in color, but when I exported the video, it turned out grey. I'm guessing the problem is that the top layer is grey and the bg was color. I still need to think of an ending... spent too much time cleaning the images.

Discovery Test

I still have to work on 1/3 of the inbetweens for the animation. This is a rough pass without any character features.

Animal Studies and Character Designs

Here is some of my animal studies and animal character designs.
This is my discovery scene characters. I don't think I'll have time to add the details on my discovery animation for Monday.

Chase Scene and Discovery...

Here is my chase scene along with my new discovery character. I'm still deciding on what my new discovery scene is about. My follow through character will not be in the discovery scene.

Scene - Room Design

I might change the scene design if I have time. I added a character to the scene to see how it looks. The third image is a scene design I copied from the "Art of Ratatouille". My room is really messy. I was debating whether or not to include the floor. I decided on this side of my room because I wanted to add the danger sign I had on the side.

Drawing Hands and Poses

Here's my 25 hand drawings. There are 3-4 of them I drew with my left head instead of my right. They actually turned out pretty well. I will post the new 1 min poses later. Here's the one from Wed. night.

Test Discovery

Here's a first pass/test of my discovery scene. I think I need to change it though. I have a feeling that when I actually animate this, it's going to be longer than 5 seconds.

New Character Design

This is my character design for the Discovery animation. I might make a few changes to him later. I tried to create a non-human character for this one, but it's a humanoid. For some reason, I'm drawing rabbits now.

Scanning the Artwork

Here's my best artwork of the model that came in on Thursday.

Here's my character design based on the model. Instead of having the towel, I made it into a sash instead around his waist.

Scanned Turn Around + Character Sheet and Cut Outs

Here is my turn around animation after I scanned in the frames. I had to adjust the contrast so that the lines were darker. The first time I used a different character design, but chose a different character when I redid the animation. It's the character I posted on my blog before. Here is the character sheet. I should've realized how much a pain the hair would be to animate and I think it still needs work. If I have time I'll tweak it.

Here's the other two paper cutouts.

Going Around and Around

Here's my turn around...again. This time I added the character details. I'll try and scan the frames later today so that the quality is better. Some of the frames in the video shows the first frame underneath.

Turn Around Test

This is the 2nd test turn around with inbewtweens. For the frames with the foot in the air, I put them on ones instead of twos. I had two versions to test out which speed was better for the foot movement. When it was on twos it looked a bit slow. Hopefully I can get a rough draft done of my final turn. There some things I fixed on this animation like the ending where his body is swaying.

Turn Around Key Frames

This is my second test with my character turning around. The first test was had some problems so I redid the key frames with a different character. The link to the Animation Mentor site really helped me out. All the keys are on twos right now. The last frame looks odd but it should flow nicely with inbetweens.

Looks...Depressing

Here are my compositions of the teapot, cup, and plate. For some reason, it seems that I made more depressing compositions than happy ones. I really liked some of the pictures that came out of this assignment. It's challenging to think about where everything should be placed in the box.

Character Cutouts

Here's the character cutouts from Thursday's class. The first one I made didn't push the shapes enough. The others look pretty cool. It was a challenging experience, but this is the beginning of different character designs.

3rd attempt

I'm still trying to fix my anticipation animation. This one seems to be better than my last two. I'm still have problems with follow through.

Summer Drawings

These are some of the sketches I did over the summer of a character I created. I'm still thinking of a name for him, but it was fun drawing. All of these drawings were done in pen.
